Petal Project

What we do:

We are a not-for-profit arts and crafts creative space for the whole community. We facilitate workshops for adults with additional needs using local eco-friendly materials.

Petal Power

Nature is at the centre of Stanmer Organic’s art and crafts plot, Petal Project

We opened in 2019, as a not-for-profit CIC (community interest company)

Petal Project provides a glorious space in which adults with additional needs can get creative in nature, using natural materials.

Established and run by three dynamic women – community artist Rachel Clatworthy and intermediary/communication specialists Edit Ficzova and Lucy Turner (Lucy is also a member of the harmony group Solebound) – Petal Project is currently also hosting two resident local artists. These are the prolific and awe inspiring

Jim Sanders and the energetically vibrant painter Aida Ashall.

Jim’s latest work is the Spirit Memoria, brings the Brighton Spirit house to Stanmer Organics. His spirit gardens honour memories of loved ones, with cherished fabrics and precious objects transformed into beautiful, commemorative pieces of art.

Petal project is known far and wide for wonderful and well-attended community events, its creative workshops featuring live music, and its ever-plentiful supply of fresh chai.

Petal Project is particularly supportive and active in the trans community, collaborating with Hiking in Skirts and offering meditation groups with Persia West.

Come and see us for yourself!

Our volunteer days are every other Friday from 10am-2pm and every third Sunday from 11am until 4pm.
