Physic Garden

Serving people, plants and wildlife

Welcome!

Physic Garden

The Physic Garden (Project) is an organic medicinal herb garden, founded in 2010 by Herbalist and Registered Naturopath, Lisa-Marie Davies.

Nestled in the heart of Stanmer Organics, Stanmer Park in Sussex, the garden enjoys a glorious gently sloping, south-facing position. Over the years, it has been transformed into a thriving sanctuary dedicated to medicinal plants, education, and community well-being.

About the Garden

We cultivate a rich diversity of medicinal plants that benefit both humans and wildlife. Our garden serves as a living apothecary, offering an opportunity to reconnect with the healing power of nature. Through organic and sustainable gardening practices, we ensure that the plants we grow support biodiversity while maintaining the integrity of traditional herbal knowledge.

Workshops, Talks, and Educational Programs

We offer a variety of workshops covering many aspects of herbal medicine and naturopathic practices. Our sessions range from hands-on plant identification and medicine-making to deep dives into holistic health and seasonal wellness. We also provide:

  • Guided tours of the garden, where visitors can learn about the medicinal properties of plants.
  • Interactive talks on herbal medicine, sustainable growing, and naturopathy.
  • Outdoor educational days for children, including the Junior Herbalist Club (JHC), where young learners engage with nature and gain an understanding of plant-based healing.

Workshop dates for 2025 will be published very soon! If you would like to receive our latest event schedule, please email us at physicgardenproject@gmail.com.

Volunteer Days

We warmly welcome volunteers who wish to take part in tending the garden. Our new volunteer days run on Fridays from 10:00 AM to 3:30 PM. Volunteers can engage in a range of activities, including:

  • Sowing, planting, and harvesting medicinal herbs
  • Learning about organic gardening and herbal medicine
  • Enjoying the beautiful surroundings of Stanmer Park while working alongside a supportive community

No experience is necessary—just a willingness to get involved and a love for nature! If you’re interested, please get in touch at physicgardenproject@gmail.com.

Team-Building and Private Events

We also offer tailor-made days for businesses, groups, and organisations looking for unique team-building experiences in a natural setting. Whether you’re interested in herbal medicine, sustainability, or simply a day of mindful connection with nature, we can create a bespoke experience to suit your needs.
